The Kindle is a wonderful reading device, unfortunately it has some arbitrarily imposed limitations that severely impact its usability for serious study or research work.
There’s also a Notes Export feature, which lets students export their notes and highlighted sections from “Print Replica” textbooks, giving them easier access to information. The Kindle app support the iTunes File Sharing, all your books will be saved in its Documents folder. This makes the books import and export to or from Kindle app very easy. Run iTunes on your PC or Mac. We will use iTunes on a Windows 10 computer in this demo. Then connect your iPhone or iPad to computer via USB. To get them out of the Kindle app, click “ Edit Notes “. In the top left hand corner, it will say “ Select All “. Assuming you want ALL the notes out, click “Select All ” and every note gets a tick next to it. Otherwise, click “Select All” then go down the list and untick the ones you don’t want exported.
One of the most limiting aspects, is the limit on “clippings”. These are the exported text highlights that you make when reading a book. If you find yourself reading a book for an assignment or article and have been fastidiously making highlights of important sections, you may very disappointed when you go to retrieve those highlights from the “My Clippings.txt” file stored on your Kindle.
