Marlin 39a Serial Number Lookup

can you tell the manufacturing date from a serial number?
Im still in the market for a 45-70 lever gun.
But Im leery of Marlin lever guns made between 2009 and 2016/17 as I 'heard' they were manufactured in less than perfect conditions.
I 'heard' Remington started manufacturing the 45-70 using Marlin's original prints and the last couple years the guns are much better?
so can you tell the manuf. date from the serial number
